Lorel McChesney

Co-Director for Children’s Ministry

Lorel first became involved in Children’s Ministry in 1987 when her priest gave her the task of re-writing a series of 24 inspirational letters to be sent out to parents during the first two years of a child’s life. Her love of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd began in 1991, when she started Level 1 training in St. Paul, MN. She served as a catechist at her Episcopal church for 5 years and also completed a portion of Level 2 training. There she led a Children’s Chapel, served as a preschool teacher in a collaborative Vacation Bible School offered by multiple churches in her community, and continued working with young children in her church’s Godly Play program. Lorel also spent 7 years as Parish Administrator. She completed Level 2 training this summer.
After raising four sons with her husband, Scott, she is now primary caretaker for her mother.  She is excited for this opportunity to serve at St. John’s and once again be involved in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Her responsibilities include overseeing the Atriums, communicating with parents, and supporting our catechists.
