Ministry Teams and Leaders

All of the ministries and activities of St. John’s fall within twelve Ministry Teams. Some of these teams are led by the clergy, some by staff, and some by lay leaders who represent their team on the Vestry (the elected governing body of the church). One of the easiest ways to get involved at St. John’s is to identify an area of the church’s ministry that appeals to you and get involved with that team. Not only does it let you live out your faith in a practical way, it provides a more intimate experience of Christian community.

Below we’ve listed each of the Ministry Teams with a brief description and who to contact if you’d like more information about how to get involved.

lilyThe Welcome and Inclusion Team is designed to help integrate people into the life of the St. John’s community. (More)

This includes the Ushers who greet you on Sunday morning, members who reach out to people who have filled out visitor cards, folks who host newcomer events, and fostering a general spirit in the congregation that is attentive and hospital to anyone who is in our midst.

leafThe Worship Team includes everyone who is involved in the planning and leading of our worship services. (More)

This includes the Choir that leads the congregation in all the sung portions of the liturgy, the Altar Guild that prepares the altar for communion, the Liturgical Artists who create all the visual components of our worship, the Chalice Bearers who serve communion, and the Readers who lead the prayers and read the scripture lessons.

green-leafThe Spiritual Formation Teams are committed to fostering meaningful and authentic spirituality, as individuals and as a community. (More)

We follow the Anglican tradition that honors Scripture, Tradition (the heritage of the church through the centuries), and Reason (an ongoing dialogue that seeks to make sense of our faith in the context of this world we’re living in). Follow the links below for more information on each of three spiritual formation teams.
